Awful loss Tuesday in extras, followed by rain Wednesday, set up a double header Thursday that needed a Cardinals sweep to take the series. And they got it. Somehow.
This is starting to become a theme and I don't think anyone is complaining about it. For the 6th time in 7 tries this season, the Cubs have taken 2 out of 3 in a series. Sure it would be nice to mix in a few sweeps in there but as it stands the Cubs are are at 12-9 and sitting 1 game atop the NL Central, and as long as they keep this up, that gap will grow. It will only get tougher this weekend, but first lets recap the trip to PNC.
From 3-9 after leaving the Bronx, to be being back in much more of a realistic position to be the contender that everyone though they were at 9-10 now, the Cardinals seem to have righted the ship. At least for now.
Another trip to Southern Ohio, another series victory for the Cubs. This past weekend's visit to Great American Ballpark marks the 7th straight time the Cubs haven't lost a series there, and the 5th time this season that they've won a series with the only loss being the Pittsburgh sweep. With a chance at revenge against the Bucs (hopefully, depending on the weather) getting underway at PNC Park tonight, a lot of questions still remain.
